The kangaroo is an animal found in Australia. These animals were given their name by the famous English Captain, James cook, who discovered Australia. There are many types of kangaroos and they vary in size. The Wallaby for example, is no bigger than a rabbit. But the great kangaroo or the Forester, stands 7 feet tall and weighs 200 pounds. Surprisingly its body is only about an inch long when it is born. These babies are carried by the mother in a pocket of skin, in the lower half of her body. Kangaroos, often meet in groups called mobs: In Australia’s early days, such mobs numbered thousands of kangaroos. Nowadays a mob of one hundred animals is unusually large. Kangaroos sleep on ground. They eat vegetables only. They live for fifteen years.
